1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your browser when you visit a website. We also use related technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. In this policy we refer to all of them collectively as "cookies".
2. Categories we use
Essential (always on)
These are required for the Service to function. They cannot be switched off because the site would not work without them. They include:
- Authentication — Supabase session cookies that keep you signed in.
- Cookie consent record— stored locally so we don't ask you on every page load.
- UI preferences — theme, language toggle on legal pages, dashboard layout state.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) and, where applicable, contract performance (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). No consent required under § 25 (2) TDDDG.
Analytics (off by default)
When enabled, we collect aggregated usage data to understand which features are used and where the product can be improved. We do not use third-party advertising networks or cross-site tracking pixels. Today this category gates:
- Vercel Web Analytics + Speed Insights — cookieless page-view counts, route-level performance metrics (Core Web Vitals). Hashed visitor identifiers rotate daily; no cookies are written; no fingerprinting.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR / § 25 (1) TDDDG). You can withdraw consent at any time below.
Embeds & maps (off by default)
When enabled, we may load third-party embeds that power interactive product surfaces. Today this category gates:
- Mapbox — interactive map rendering on the dashboard, country pages, and trip details.
- Future embeds (e.g. partner widgets) will fall into this category by default.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR / § 25 (1) TDDDG). Loading these tools transmits at least your IP address to the respective provider. Without consent, the map shows a static placeholder.
3. Where we store your choice
Your consent decision is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key nomados.cookie-consent.v1 together with a timestamp. We re-prompt you every 12 months so that consent stays current.
4. Manage or withdraw your consent
You can change your choice at any time. Use the button below to reopen the consent banner, or clear your browser's localStorage for this site to reset everything.
5. Third-party processors
For the full list of processors and the legal grounds for international transfers, see our Privacy Policy.
